Hospital Administration
Since 1983, Midwest Ultrasound has been a leading provider of ultrasound services at hospitals and physician offices.COMPELLING REASONS TO PARTNER WITH US
Laboratories operated by MUI consistently out-perform their peers. This is achieved by the focused management of key performance measures that target quality, accessibility and the elimination of staffing issues. This results in an increase in laboratory volume, operating margin and downstream service line revenue, as well as increased physician and patient satisfaction. To illustrate MUI's sustained long-term growth record for its client hospitals, the average annual growth rate of all of the regional mid-to-large hospital based labs managed by MUI since 1996 ranged from 8% to 14% range.
MUI's active management will provide improved, consistent, high quality service to the hospital resulting in:
- increased revenue from growth in lab operations
- increased revenue from growth in related downstream hospital services
- increased physician and patient satisfaction
- new ultrasound equipment at a lower cost due to MUI's relationship with equipment manufacturers
- elimination of existing fixed salary and equipment costs
- assumption of the risk of the lab operations (the hospital is charged only when service is provided on a per study rate).
- community outreach programs such as screening for peripheral vascular disease (similar to Lifeline screening) to increase market share as a marketing tool and as a separate source of revenue.
HOW DOES MUI GUARANTEE ITS PERFORMANCE?
MUI's management team is a group of clinically trained ultrasound professionals focused on the unique issues inherent to ultrasound. In addition, MUI is the largest employer of sonographers in the Midwest.
Ultrasound is dependent upon the skill of the sonographer, unlike technology dependent imaging (CT, MRI). Sonographers are increasingly in short supply.
MUI's professional staff actively manages hospital vascular and echo labs in order to assure full staffing with MUI's skilled sonographers.
- This maintains scheduling for outpatients at less than 3 days and provide same day inpatient testing;
- Respond to all day-to-day operational issues efficiently and effectively;
- Assure accuracy of testing through a continuous QA program;
- Provide continuing education and supplemental training for its sonographers;
- Fulfill all ICAVL/ICAEL accreditation requirements and JCAHO compliance;
- Assist with efforts to encourage appropriate utilization;
- Improve the efficiency, quality and user-friendliness of lab operations.
